My Final Year Collection (FYP) is titled 'Anamnesis', which means "to recall" in Greek. My collection explores a world through escapism and is heavily inspired from maladaptive daydreaming. Maladaptive daydreaming is a coping mechanism where one resides in their dreams as a form of escaping reality.
A movie from which i quote, “what” and “if” are as non threatening as words can be, but put them together and it can haunt you for the rest of your life, “what if”, my collection of explores the what ifs in a hazy, dreamy and haunting manner. When i think of escaping reality, one would want to run back to the good times and personally for me, that would be my childhood so there are hints of nostalgia in place in my collection.
I based my collection on being monochromatic, just white. White usually represents purity and i think that dreams are ours only so they cant be tainted by anyone else and when i reflect on all the dreams i have had, i never once recalled my dreams to have any colour - just in black and white hence i decided to make my collection all-white.
